He’s Growing Into A Fine Young Man

This is my 14 year old son. He is my first born. He is starting high school next week! Ahhhh!

Actually he’s been at the high school almost everyday for the past month. First it was drivers ed class. Then, he’s had soccer practice for the past few weeks. Tomorrow is his first JV game. He is the goalie, actually the only goalie! Lord willing he won’t miss a game! Next Monday he has his freshman orientation and Wednesday he starts a new chapter in high school. I’m feeling a bit old here! lol

He’s a lot like me. He has a heart to help people. He’s an encourager. He’s also like me in that he doesn’t like to hurt anyone’s feelings. You know what else, he’s got an awesome smile and loves to laugh!  He really is a good kid. I know God has big plans in his future.

God has blessed me ten fold with him.

The realization hit this summer as I was taking him to the high school. My baby is no longer a kid.

He’s growing into a fine young man and how proud I am of who he is becoming!

Time flies! Enjoy every moment with your children. My oldest and I are fairly close. He confides in me things most children don’t. I used to think “I don’t want to know that” and so on. Now I’m thankful that he trusts me enough to tell me things most kids wouldn’t. If you have a child like that, please don’t push that away. I’m so thankful and blessed with my relationship with him.

Wait to you hear what else I’m dealing with… that will come on Thursday. This Mama is emotionally on overdrive! However, I know God is with my children if I’m there or not. So thankful that I am able to rest in that truth.

Are you dealing with a change in season (or chapter) with your children? How are you coping?

Until next time lovelies!

What a great post! Mine aren’t quite there yet, but the change of seasons is hard in some ways when they grow up (even now at 4 and 1)!

(hug) and prayers for you , friend.

    Beautiful post.
And yes.. My life is going through a lot of changes and ones that include my girls. One graduated and working and the other one in her senior year.
It’s scary and exciting all in one..

Well, you hit a nerve right there. I just sent my baby off to college…and posted about it on Monday.

Oh, my — change, change, change. I wrote a newsletter about it several months ago, and this weekend I went back and read it aloud to myself! Enjoyed your post. Do enjoy your son’s high school years. Fun!

What a wonderful tribute to your son. I know you will both look back on these words with fondness and love in the years to come. Hugs!

He does have a heart to help people. I’ve witnessed it myself. You’ve got a great son, actually three great sons and one great daughter. You have so much to proud of :)
