I have had some situations very recently that have me overwhelmed with anxiety. The problem with anxiety is it’s the Devil working on you. It forces you make decisions or comments that you would not normally do. So I’ve been praying and thinking about this a lot lately. I have finally received some confidence that I desperately needed!
“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.” Proverbs 12:25 (NIV)
How can I replace anxiety with confidence? These are my steps I want to share with you. They help me!
- Give it to God. Completely! It’s hard to do most of the time because we all feel like we are giving up control over our lives. However, do we really have control anyway? NO, He does!
- Pray from the depths of your heart for peace and direction! Cry it out! He already knows our hearts but He wants to hear it from us!
- Talk about it. If it’s with your husband, a parent or a friend it will help. Getting it off your chest will definitely make you feel better. Not only that but sometimes God gives people the right words to get you out of your slump! However, don’t confront the issue that’s causing anxiety without doing these steps!
- If you start feeling depressed and it’s not going away. Don’t ignore it. Talk to someone professionally. Your family doctor, a psychologist or your Pastor. I have a beautiful blogging friend, Cherie who wrote about Depression a few weeks ago. Sometimes using medication with the help of a professional can help. There is nothing wrong with having to take medicine for depression or anxiety! God is in the medical field too!
If you know a friend is having trouble. Be there for them!
- Give them kind words.
- Encourage them!
- Pray for them.
This will help them receive the confidence they need!
“For you have been my hope, O Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.” Psalm 71:5 (NIV)
I do suggest leaning on God for hope and protection. Pray that devil away! Because anxiety is just that, The Devil! Once you do this, you will have confidence that things will work out and God is there, always! It will keep you positive and encouraged to keep going in this not so pleasant world.
For more scripture reference to this, I suggest reading Psalm 71:1-24
Are you struggling with anxiety at the moment? Share with me if you like, I will pray for you! Any other tips to get over this speed hump?
Many Blessings,
Chele
