Replacing Anxiety with Confidence

I have had some situations very recently that have me overwhelmed with anxiety. The problem with anxiety is it’s the Devil working on you. It forces you make decisions or comments that you would not normally do. So I’ve been praying and thinking about this a lot lately. I have finally received some confidence that I desperately needed!

“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.” Proverbs 12:25 (NIV)

How can I replace anxiety with confidence? These are my steps I want to share with you. They help me!

  1. Give it to God. Completely! It’s hard to do most of the time because we all feel like we are giving up control over our lives. However, do we really have control anyway? NO, He does!
  2. Pray from the depths of your heart for peace and direction! Cry it out! He already knows our hearts but He wants to hear it from us!
  3. Talk about it. If it’s with your husband, a parent or a friend it will help. Getting it off your chest will definitely make you feel better. Not only that but sometimes God gives people the right words to get you out of your slump! However, don’t confront the issue that’s causing anxiety without doing these steps!
  4. If you start feeling depressed and it’s not going away. Don’t ignore it. Talk to someone professionally. Your family doctor, a psychologist or your Pastor. I have a beautiful blogging friend, Cherie who wrote about Depression a few weeks ago. Sometimes using medication with the help of a professional can help. There is nothing wrong with having to take medicine for depression or anxiety! God is in the medical field too!

If you know a friend is having trouble. Be there for them!

  • Give them kind words.
  • Encourage them!
  • Pray for them.

This will help them receive the confidence they need!

“For you have been my hope, O Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.” Psalm 71:5 (NIV)

I do suggest leaning on God for hope and protection. Pray that devil away! Because anxiety is just that, The Devil! Once you do this, you will have confidence that things will work out and God is there, always! It will keep you positive and encouraged to keep going in this not so pleasant world.

For more scripture reference to this, I suggest reading Psalm 71:1-24

Are you struggling with anxiety at the moment? Share with me if you like, I will pray for you! Any other tips to get over this speed hump?

Many Blessings,

Our Sustainer Through Promises

God is my sustainer. He is the one who I lean on through life. He is the one who will do all things for His love of me.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV)

I have had a lot of personal and “work” stuff going on the past few weeks. I am overwhelmed and weary. I am even struggling to write at this point. I’m having some major writers block situations. However, being completely honest the past week or so I have not been giving it all to the good Lord to handle. I have been taking it on myself without asking His help. I’ve realized that I can’t do this on my own. He wants us always to come to Him before we do all things. This past weekend while sponsoring a good friend of ours to The Walk to Emmaus, I remembered His promises. All because of a rainbow we saw on our way to a function for this. He has many promises in the Bible for us to be reminded. This next verse really made it clear for me.

“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:17 (NIV)

Wow! Talk about a duh moment! He can’t hold things together for us if we don’t go to Him before! I was starting to think I needed to hold off here on The Bona Fide Life because I am falling trying to keep up with two blogs and my home. Not to mention my family that needs me! I need to prioritize and go before Him in all decisions I make. Things are going to start looking up for me. The stress is slowly fading as He sustains me!

Are you having a difficult time right now? Is there a situation(s) that leaves you feeling like there is no hope? Are you feeling like you need to give up one thing to gain another? It doesn’t have to feel that way, go to Jesus and let him sustain you!

Many Blessings,

Just the Two of Us

“Take me away with you…. Let us hurry.” Song of Songs 1:4

This is the only time of year that my husband and I really take time for just the two of us. I never was big about Valentines Day, until I met him. He doesn’t buy me jewelry or flowers. We don’t expect anything from each other. We usually get each other a card and go out to dinner. Last year we decided to take a long weekend, just the two of us. To our favorite place, Charleston SC. We don’t spend a lot of money. We may just go to dinner and the rest of the weekend we just walk around looking at the scenery. Maybe spend a few dollars on going inside one of the extravagant historic homes. But that is about it. This is what we are doing again this year. My hubby and I have decided to make this a tradition for us. We both feel that we need to make each other first (of course after God). Without our love for each other our kids don’t have that loving home. I grew up watching my grandparents kiss and hug all the time. They didn’t care who was watching or listening when they loved on each other. In my little girl dreams of the future, I dreamt of a relationship like that. I have it! Thank You God! I can tell you I love my children… I would die for any one of them but without my hubby I am not whole and our family is not whole. God wants us to love each other. He wants us to love our husbands with all we have. He wants us to show our children the love we have in us.

How about you? Do you just run away with your husband every now and then? Do you make him first before your children? Where do you go? How do you spend time just the two of you?

Many Blessings!
