Sharing – An Update

Hi everyone! I know it’s been awhile. So thought I’d share an update on me. Most of it is exciting and fun except this first thing.

I’ve had a lot going on these past weeks as you know. Some of you don’t know that I had to take my 15 yo to the emergency room last Friday for a lump on his neck and had trouble swallowing. They treated him for the symptoms, got his swelling down and sent him home. I took him to his Pediatrician on Monday and because the hospital gave him a steroid to bring down the swelling, she wants to put off more testing until next week. Steroids mask results. She did say it was his Thyroid but we don’t know what. So if you pray, please pray for him and Mama! I wouldn’t wish these thyroid issues on my worst enemy… definitely not on any of my loved ones.

I am over at Type-A Parent today talking about The Day Facebook Screwed Up, would love to hear your thoughts over there!

Speaking of Type-A… I was also asked to speak with Cecily, Anissa and Erin on the Type-A Parent Track at Blog World Expo in Los Angeles! Oh my goodness I’m excited and honored! However, that means I have to get on a plane by myself and fly from the East Coast to the West Coast (where I have never been). I’m going to LA, pass me the xanax or wine will do.

I have to add this link in here. I read this amazing post by Josh at Dad Street yesterday. It is so authentic and has got me thinking differently! Thought maybe you would like it. Now it does have a curse word in it but you’ll get over that, it’s not often through the post. Go check out If We Can’t Say, “No” our “Yes” Don’t Mean Shit.

#Typeacon is the Feels Like Family Conference

I attended the Type-A Parent Conference last week. I had some thoughts of how I feel about this conference that I would like to share. I know some of you are thinking I am bias because Kelby Carr (founder of the conference) is one of my bestest friends but I promise you. I live by my title Bona Fide. ;)

I left this conference thinking that #Typeacon is the Feels Like Family Conference!

This is my second time at this conference. My first experience of any conference was Type-A last year. I have been to a few others within the last year and this year’s Type-A Conference showed me that this is indeed the best conference for many reasons.  However I have to share, you know I spoke at this conference. Well look what I found in a pile just a few weeks ago that I put on a post it note after returning home from last years conference! Ha-Ha!

These next few thoughts are reasons why you should attend this particular conference!

Learning –

You learn a TON of information. As a matter of fact, all the other conferences were mainly about networking and partying. Although there are still the networking and partying at Type-A, the learning is in abundance. They do an amazing job at lining up speakers and sessions. You will not leave this conference without some excellent knowledge to use!

Networking –

You would be amazed for any conference what networking does for your online life. The friends you make who will think of you when an opportunity comes and they need more bloggers. The companies that you get to know are amazing. If they didn’t want to work with you in some way, they wouldn’t be there in the first place! Just like you will see in the next thought, there is a lot of time at this conference to get to know those you would like to know better!

Personal –

There are so many that say that #typeacon is the place to make those amazing relationships. I agree! You have the time to embrace time with others while eating, going out on the town or sitting on the patio. There is time in between sessions to chat or even to relax the mind (which you may need at any conference, ha!).  You have quality time to meet other bloggers and those who work for the sponsors. As well as, you get to know them on a personal level. That’s probably why I feel like I’m #consick right now. I miss my friends new and old! By the way, my definition for #consick is depressed or melancholy at being away from a conference or longing to go back.

All of these things combined are why #Typeacon is the Feels Like Family Conference! Like some of these sisters I never had who are in my Social Media Moms Group that I had the privilege to meet face to face or see again! Love them all like family!

Question: Am I the only one that feels this conference feels like family? Am I the only one that is #consick?

Your turn!

I’m Speaking at the Type-A Parent Conference

Recently, I received an email. One of those emails that helps to mark those want to accomplish this or that right off the list! I have exciting news!! Stacey and I will be speaking at the Type-A Parent Conference in June, together. We will be the “Personal Tribe Leaders”.

Oh my goodness, I’ve known for a bit now and it’s been killing me to share with you all. Just had to get our ducks in a row! Now I am allowed to shout it from the rooftops!! And I am!

I am so excited that I was chosen to speak at Type-A Conference and with someone that thinks like me! Are you a “personal” blogger? Are you a blogger who writes about whatever you want and doesn’t really feel you fit into the niches out there? This is the one for you! We would love to have you join us!

A little about my partner in crime! Last year at Type-A Conference I met this lady named Stacey. It was a brief encounter but I remembered her and I liked her. Anyhow, she wrote a post sharing what she spoke about at a recent conference. I was in shock, I thought I was the only person that did not feel I could fit in any of the niches around the blogosphere. Her post was titled How to Blog Without a Niche. This is the first person I’ve seen that actually announced she doesn’t fit in a niche. I also noticed she called herself a “personal” blogger! I like that! Someone finally spoke up! I have drafts in my que for that very thing. About niches (or tribes) that I have not published for you. All on how I don’t want to pick a niche to be in. I’ve shared on Facebook and Twitter many times. My close friends know this about me but I never got the guts up to write about it here.

For my readers who are not bloggers: a niche (or tribe) is just what you mainly blog about. What you focus on. I blog mainly about personal things. Feelings and happenings on life. Really anything I want to! I don’t want to just share about my faith. I don’t want to just talk about blogging. I was absolutely ecstatic to see someone actually feels the same way. I don’t fit into a niche. Or maybe we just found it… Personal Niche. ;)

Are you going to Type-A this year? Are you a blogger that has been looking for a niche to fit in? Are you NOT a blogger and totally lost at what I’m talking about? haha. Either way, I am just so excited to be speaking at the Type-A Parent Conference this year!

Thank you for letting me share my excitement!
