High Hampton Inn Feeds You Like Your Grandma Does

The meals at High Hampton Inn are included with your room! Breakfast, lunch and dinner! I didn’t feel hungry at each meal because they fed you good! A huge shout out to our waitress we had all weekend long! When we first spotted Jenna, she was walking around the corner with a HUGE smile on her face. That is a must in working in this business! She was friendly, knew how to start a conversation and an overall great waitress! The really cool thing about the dining at the Inn is in the evening they ask the men to wear coat and tie and women to dress accordingly. How often do you get to dress up for dinner? It was a nice change of speed for us!

The only thing I wish I would have known about food and drink is that there was not a small fridge in the room. We were not prepared for no fridge and therefore we didn’t have any cold drinks between meal time. Although, they did have drinks you could buy around the resort but still we were not prepared. We will be prepared for that next time but I can assure you that you will not leave the Inn hungry! The Inn feeds you like Grandma does!

On Sunday evening, they had a Memorial Day House Party. It was the coolest thing! There were chairs, tables and a stage for the mountain cloggers on their lawn overlooking the lake. Yes I said cloggers!

They went all out for this meal! See….

Check out the creative things they did with the food! Makes me want to play with my food! Ha!

I even knew someone at the resort, it’s a small world isn’t it? Yep, my precious friend Carolina Mama was there with her family!

Malise and I

At first I was taken back by how they set us up to eat. In the dining room, we had the same table every meal time with just Chasin and I. However, for the party they sat us at a table with others. My first thought was “great we are going to be sitting here with complete strangers and I don’t feel like making conversation while eating.” Ha, I know I’m just being bona fide here! ;) By the end of the evening, the folks we sat with we ended up talking with all night long. The man was 70 years old and we are in our 30′s. Love how God works!  As a matter of fact, I believe we were the only table that people were still sitting at when the staff came to clean up. Great people, great food, great dancing…. amazing place!

Our conversation led to other events at the Inn throughout the year. The couple we chatted with come to the Inn at least twice a year. They let us in on another event High Hampton Inn has, the Thanksgiving House Party. I want to go so bad! She told me that they even have holiday craft workshops for all ages among many other things they do during Thanksgiving House Party.

I want to go at Thanksgiving time, who’s in with me?

High Hampton Inn Experience {Part One}

High Hampton Inn was an amazing getaway! It’s hard to write in one post all that there is to offer. So I am going to split them up over the next week. You can read part of my experience in the area from Tuesday’s post. Now, let’s get on with it! Have you ever watched Dirty Dancing? Please tell me you did. Patrick Swayze was the man! (God rest his soul.) Anyhow, when I first heard of this Inn I went to their website. Looked around a bit. The only thing I could compare it to was the resort from Dirty Dancing without the dirty dancing. HA! ;) However, I had my own Patrick Swayze this past weekend, my hubby!

Chasin and I

This Inn is located in Cashiers, NC. A beautiful and quaint mountain town. The town is filled with many unique shops. Honestly, I wish we had more time to stroll through but we were on a mission to get to High Hampton Inn! Just a few miles down the road, you will come to the entrance to High Hampton Inn. Driving in you see a small lake (Jewel Lake) and golf holes on either side of the road. As you drive back you come to the Inn. We knew as soon as we pulled up we were going to love it there! The porch was inviting. The building had bark as the siding! It was really cool.

The Inn

Checking in was quite easy. To top it off Mark our doorman took our bags to our room for us and got us settled in with some ice. Thanks Mark! As you see, it was nice to have our bags taken for us! The path was narrow but the stone wall and well maintained landscape was really cool! They have a variety of cottages and homes. As well as rooms in the Inn.

Look at this breathtaking view off our porch.

The View from the Veranda!

The inside of the cottage I loved. It was just a one room with bathroom and fireplace but perfect for the hubby and I. I wish it would have been cold enough to use the fireplace!

As soon as we got there I took a nap. Yes it was just so peaceful, I think I took at least 3 or 4 naps while I was there. Obviously I was worn out. Ha! As I was sleeping Chasin took a walk around the lake. He came back with these cool photos of a tree that toppled over onto the path around the lake! Yes later, I did walk around the lake too and got to see it with my own eyes! Nature is amazing!

I don’t want to end this first post about High Hampton Inn without expressing one main thing about this resort. It is absolutely family friendly. As a matter of fact, all weekend long Chasin and I kept saying to each other the kids would love this or we should have brought the kids! So we are planning to take them the next time. As soon as we have funds to do so. I would love to share with you more about the kids activities in depth by experiencing it. However, I did make note of a lot of things to share in the coming posts.

My husband and I absolutely needed this getaway. After all we have been through the past 8 months with my cancer fight. It was much needed without the kids.

Do you ever take a vacation without the kids? Would you not love to experience the beautiful and peaceful Inn?
